Las Vegas entertainment innovators Criss Angel and Franco Dragone released more details today about their new collaboration, including its name, venue and opening date. Amystika: The Secret Revealed is their new production show set to begin preview performances on December 27 at the Criss Angel Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort.

Originally teased in February as Mr. Smiles & Molly, the new experience is described as “a fantastical and mysterious production which immerses the audience in a spectacle of euphoric, stunning illusions, one-of-a-kind special effects, jaw-dropping stunts and much more.” In other words, it sounds like exactly what you would expect from Angel, who co-created and starred in the Believe and Mindfreak magic-based productions on the Strip, and Dragone, whose Vegas credits include Le Rêve at Wynn, Cirque du Soleil's O and Mystère, and Celine Dion's A New Day residency.

Innovative elements in Amystika—also described as a prequel to Mindfreak—will include a firestorm that “engulfs a human body” as well as tornado and blizzard effects that move throughout the theater.

It will be performed at 10 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, meaning Amystika will take the stage after Mindfreak, which will continue its 7 p.m. schedule those days. No word yet whether Angel will appear onstage during Amystika as well. A grand opening performance is expected to be announced soon.
