When Black Tap opened at the Venetian in December 2017, it brought to Las Vegas a taste of New York City, where the burger joint has a cult following. Modeled after the luncheonettes of lower Manhattan in the '80s and '90s, where you can sidle up to the counter and get a solid burger and shake, Black Tap exudes a hip, millennial urban vibe. That sensibility permeates the menu—from the La Frieda-sourced burgers and craft beers to those Instagram-darling CrazyShakes.

Black Tap recently rolled out a refreshed menu featuring vegan and vegetarian offerings, in response to the growing call for plant-based alternatives. The Impossible All-American ($19) holds its own against its Prime counterpart—the patty is thick, cooked "medium rare" and topped with American cheese and Black Tap's special sauce. (That can be made vegan upon request as well.) The All-American is Black Tap's signature burger, and this Impossible version could strike gold with the vegetarian/vegan crowd.

The Vegan Nashville Hot ($16) is a riff on the sandwich of the moment. Instead of chicken, a hearty breaded portobello gets topped with Nashville hot sauce, paired with coleslaw and pickles and served on a vegan potato roll. It's got a kick to it, with the mushroom adding a depth of flavor and texture that you won't find in a regular chicken sandwich.

Non-vegetarians have something new (and spicy!) too: the Beer Hall Chicken Sandwich ($19), a pretzel-breaded chicken breast topped with beer cheese (from Black Tap's own brew), bacon, pickled jalapeños and mayo. Keep a CrazyShake close by when your order this one, as you'll need the cool dairy to temper the heat.
