Quick Bites: Las Vegas restaurants making news this week

The LEV Group and chef Roy Ellamar have announced that their new restaurant Fine Company will open at Downtown Summerlin this spring. Ellamar has been developing the concept recently after cooking for 15 years at Las Vegas Strip resorts including Harvest at Bellagio, and his new 80-seat venue will serve brunch and lunch dishes along with happy hour specials and dinner offerings, including a raw bar menu, steaks, whole fish and more.

Picnic in the Alley, created and curated by Jolene Mannina, will return for its second year on May 21 from 5 until 8 p.m. at NineTwenty in the Arts District. The culinary event sold out and raised money for Dress for Success of Southern Nevada in 201,9 and this year’s event will once again be created and staffed entirely by women in Las Vegas. Among the many participating chefs, brewers, bartenders and restaurateurs will be Gina Marinelli, Nina Manchev, Emily Brubaker, Elizabeth Blau, Shauna Dong, Andrea McLean, Wyndee Forrest, Diana Brier, Kim Owens and Pamela and Christina Dylag. A portion of proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Shade Tree shelter. Tickets are available at secretburger.com.

Guy Fieri and Caesars Entertainment have announced another expansion of their partnership with the summer addition of Chicken Guy coming to Caesars Palace. It will be the fast-casual concept’s third location on the West Coast, serving tenders brined in fresh lemon juice, pickle juice and buttermilk, sandwiches, bowls and more. Fieri is also opening Flavortown Sports Kitchen this summer at the Caesars property across the street, Horseshoe Las Vegas.

Village Pub has opened its 15th location at 4312 W. Cactus Ave. in the Southern Highlands area. It’s open 24 hours daily.

Firefly Tapas Kitchen & Bar has moved from its Paradise Road location to a huge space in the nearby Howard Hughes Center, the former McCormick and Schmick’s location at 335 Hughes Center Drive. A grand opening party is set for March 24 from 3 until 8 p.m. featuring live music, a Flamenco show and more. The new Firefly is also serving breakfast and lunch daily and is open Sunday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. until midnight. Chef Matt Meyer is creating a one-night-only burger speakeasy at his Henderson restaurant 138° on March 27 at 5 p.m. The menu will include new and current burger creations and two surprise burgers that will be voted on by guests via social media prior to the pop-up. Among the offerings are the Ultimate BahBah, made with house-chopped lamb, lamb bacon, lamb ham, red pepper coulis and cider red onion; and the Proper Smash, made with brisket and short rib, Irish white cheddar, French onions and pickles on an English muffin. Burgers are priced starting at $14 and reservations are recommended and available at 138restaurant.com.

Yardbird at Venetian is launching its new Bourbon Dinner Series at restaurant locations across the country and it’ll go down at the Las Vegas location on April 5. Tickets for the four-course dinner—which will also feature Yardbird’s own barrel-aged bourbon, created in partnership with Jim Beam—cost $140 and are available at runchickenrun.com.

Wynn Las Vegas is partnering with Napa Valley’s Opus One Winer for the “ultimate weekend wine escape” April 28-30, featuring in-depth master classes, tasting room experiences, food and wine pairings from Wynn’s acclaimed chefs and the Opus One Under the Stars outdoor, open-fire feast. Opus One will be showcasing vintages dating back to 1982 in different formats and attendees will have the opportunity to sample up to 21 vintages. Clique Hospitality has announced three new concepts set to open at the Durango Casino & Resort—Mijo Modern Mexican Restaurant, Bel-Aire Lounge cocktail bar and Bel-Aire Backyard poolside retreat. Mijo and the lounge are scheduled to open with the new resort later this year, while the pool venue is set for a spring 2024 arrival.

Al Solito Posto at Tivoli Village is launching new spring menu items this month including grilled Nigerian prawns with garlic spinach and scampi butter, bucatini cacio e pepe, fettuccine with creamy cashew Alfredo sauce, and duck ravioli with Swiss chard and parmesan fondue.

Grimaldi’s Pizzeria is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its expansion beyond New York to neighborhoods across the country—including Southern Nevada— and is marking the occasion with a special Celebration Menu available at all locations. Among the offerings are the NY Hot Dog Pizza, a white pizza topped with all-beef hot dog slices, red onions, sauerkraut and mustard; the Arugula Snap Salad; and Confetti and Coconut Cream cheesecake options. The menu is available for dine-in and takeout through June 6.

Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews at Town Square has unveiled new menu items, including the Kickin’ Bourbon Bacon Chicken & Cheesy Mac Waffle, the Black & Bleu Burger with melted bleu cheese and bourbon-glazed bacon, the Poutine Mashed Potato Bowl and more. The restaurant also started new day-of-the-week promos including Kids Eat Free on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. (with kids 12 and under receiving a free kids’ meal with the purchase of an adult meal) and Late Night All-You-Can-Eat Wings Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. until close for $18.
