Clubby cocktail spots at Venetian and Palazzo welcome football fans

When the Dorsey opened at the Venetian in 2016—taking over the former space of the sometimes rock-and-roll rowdy, overall minimalist approach of the Bourbon Room just off the casino floor—it set a new tone for nightlife that extended along the Strip. It wasn’t the first sublimely swanky cocktail bar in a casino, but it focused unapologetically on the quality of the drinks in a sexy yet subdued environment and let everything else happen around those elements. It was the new ultralounge, but bottle service didn’t matter. All you needed was a Penicillin and a conversation.

Next door at Palazzo, the creators of the Dorsey followed it with the Champagne-drenched Rosina in 2017 and the high-energy Electra Cocktail Club in 2018. Today, with coronavirus restrictions shuttering Strip nightclubs and many casino bars, two of these venues are shifting gears and expanding programming.

Starting September 10, football fans will be able to cheer on their teams at the Dorsey and Electra, with both venues using multiple TV screens for game viewing and creating new menus with bottle packages, drink specials and light bites.

Electra’s 40-foot video wall with 70 million pixels of high-definition clarity will carry NFL games starting at 5 p.m. Thursdays and 1 p.m. Sundays. Specials include buckets of five beers for $25, and reservations are strong recommended at [email protected]. The Dorsey will carry games starting at 4 p.m. Thursdays, Sundays and Mondays, and reservations can be made at the same email address.

The arrival of football isn’t turning these hot spots into sports bars. Electra Cocktail Club is still hosting DJs nightly at 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, including Greg Lopez, DJ Earwaxxx, Benny Black and DJ C-LA this week. The Dorsey also offers DJ entertainment at 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Rosina at Palazzo has not yet reopened. For more information, visit venetian.com.
