S Bar, a nightlife concept from Sam Nazarian’s Disruptive Restaurant Group (a brand within SBE) will open this week for New Year’s Eve at Mandalay Bay in the former Red Square bar and restaurant site. “A craft cocktail experience and lush lounge ambience along with high-energy entertainment” are on the way, according to a statement, and S Bar will also offer a menu of shareable bites to complement a musical approach that mixes DJ sets with live instrumentals. S Bar already has locations in Miami, LA and Dubai, and SBE also operates Kumi, Citizens, and the Delano hotel at Mandalay Bay and Hyde Lounge at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. S Bar’s December 31 opening event will feature a DJ set from LA’s Bynx. It will operate Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. until midnight and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. For more information and reservations, visit sbe.com/nightlife/s-bar/lasvegas.

Sahara’s versatile pool entertainment complex will make its debut as a night-time lounge venue on January 1. Azilo Ultra Lounge, the brand-new indoor portion of the venue—an altered space formerly known as Foxtail during the resort’s time as SLS Las Vegas—will come to life to kick off the new year and operate Friday and Saturday evenings offering music, entertainment, cocktails and more. Performing on opening night and every Saturday night are The Frenchies, the DJ combo of Flowfly and Chris Garcia. DJ and electric violinist Marlon Dasoul will perform on Fridays, and The Frenchies will also launch the first installation of the monthly Vibra party at Azilo on January 8, a house-focused event with additional live performers and dancers. Azilo’s New Year’s Eve party this week features an open bar and live entertainment starting at 9 p.m. and a countdown and fireworks viewing at the pool. Green Valley Ranch Resort celebrated its 20th anniversary this month with the return of Drop Bar, the casino center bar well-known for offering unique neighborhood nightlife through the years. Drop Bar came back to life on December 18 with a new “urban chic” redesign; live DJs on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; bar top gaming; cocktails and more. Starting in January, the bar’s Drop Everything industry night will spark Wednesday nights starting at 8 p.m., and a New Year’s Eve party featuring DJ Lynzee starts at 9 p.m. December 31. The Tao Group is holding open interviews January 11-13 at Tao Nightclub (if you’re interested, more information can be found at hkk.sn/careers) for positions at Tao Beach, also located at the Grand Canal Shoppes at Venetian. That’s great news, because that means Tao Beach is reopening in 2022, likely in March. The rooftop pool club that originally debuted in 2007 had always planned to sit out the 2020 season for a wholesale renovation, but the pandemic delayed the project significantly. Now that Tao Group has absorbed Hakkasan Group and all its Vegas venues, the return of Tao Beach to the company’s expanded portfolio is expected to be one of the biggest daylife events of the coming year.
