December 2010: Aerial Views of The Strip

It was a match made in heaven, as the saying goes! Contributing photographer Tom Donoghue loaded up his Nikon cameras aboard a Maverick sightseeing helicopter to take a unique look at Las Vegas from above.

The first stop was the new $3.9 billion Cosmopolitan, which has its soft opening today. Check out the extensive coverage by our colleagues at Las Vegas Sun and Las Vegas Weekly online and in print, and we’ll have full photo reports of opening night events, including a performance by hometown hero Brandon Flowers of The Killers, here tomorrow and a tour of Tao Group’s new Marquee nightclub at Cosmopolitan.

Donoghue continued on his flight over The Strip -- and then to shoot aerials of the Thomas & Mack Center at UNLV, along with the holding area for the more than 400 bulls, horses, steers and calves brought here for the 10 days of the 52nd Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
