Events Guide: Veterans Day 2010

In honor of their service to our country, many local Las Vegas businesses are thanking veterans with deals and discounts on Veterans Day and throughout the weekend. Check out the free ticket offers, free drinks and other fundraisers and celebrations for members of the military.

Thursday, November 11:

Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade: The annual Veterans Day parade, organized by the VFW Post 1753, will be held Downtown on Fourth Street running from Gass to Ogden avenues.

Greg London—Impressions That Rock! at The Riviera: Greg London is offering free tickets to all veterans for the November 11 show. In addition, all audience members at that show will receive a free Greg London Song of America CD featuring songs like "God Bless America," "Star Spangled Banner" and a London original track, "Heroes a Song for NY."

Free buffets for veterans: Station Casinos will be saluting the men and women of the military on Veterans Day with a free buffet at any of its ten Feast or Festival Buffets located at Station Casinos and Fiesta properties. The offer is available to any active, inactive or retired military for either breakfast, lunch or dinner. To redeem the offer, guests must show valid military identification.

Free drinks for veterans at Rockhouse: Rockhouse Bar & Nightclub salutes those who honor their country with free drinks on Veterans Day. The ultra-dive bar will welcome all current military members and veterans to join in an open bar from 10:30 p.m. until midnight on Thursday.

Murphy’s Law Veterans Day party: To support American troops this Veteran’s Day, Murphy’s Law Bar & Grill hosts an evening filled with food, drink and entertainment. Cover charge is $5, which will be donated to the troops, along with 10 percent of the evenings’ food and beverage proceeds. Those who show a military ID will be waived the cover charge. Enjoy drink specials throughout the event, including $4 specialty drinks, $10 buckets of domestic beer bottles and all-you-can-drink domestic drafts for $15 or Stella and Guinness for $25. The tavern will also be accepting both monetary and tangible donations to send to the troops. Small toiletries, playing cards, Ziploc bags and Frisbees are just a few of the items being accepted.

The Venetian's Tribute to the Troops: In honor of Veterans Day, the Sands Foundation will host a Tribute to the Troops at the Venetian. The public is invited to attend the welcome ceremony to honor and pay tribute to these wounded warriors at lobby area of The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. Speakers at the event will include Sheldon G. Adelson.

Free meals for veterans at Applebee's: Once again, Applebee’s will thank our nation’s veterans and active-duty military by inviting them to their neighborhood Applebee’s for a free meal from the Veterans Day menu. Last year, Applebee’s served more than one million military men and women.

Free show tickets for veterans: David Saxe Productions is offering free show tickets this Veterans Day to the men and women who serve our country. All veterans and active-duty military who present proof of military service will receive a complimentary ticket to see any one of the 15 shows at the Saxe Theater & V Theater inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Vets Go Free at Madame Tussauds: Madame Tussauds Las Vegas will sponsor its annual “Vets Go Free” promotion to honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. military. All United States military veterans who present their military ID at the Madame Tussauds Box Office November 11 or 12, will receive complimentary admission.

Friday, November 12:

GI Jams concert at the Cannery: GIJams.com brings the musical talent of hundreds of veterans and active-duty soldiers, Marines, sailors, airmen and National Guard members to the forefront via the cleverly titled project from well-know songwriters Denny Randell and Biddy Schippers. GI Jams goes “live” for the first time with a Veterans Day Weekend Show at the Club in the Cannery Casino & Hotel.

Saturday, November 13:

Veterans Day fireworks at Primm Valley Resorts: Primm Valley Casino Resorts is commemorating Veterans Day with a free fireworks display for guests 8:30 p.m.

Wounded Warrior Benefit: Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band host the Wounded Warrior Benefit at the Orleans Showroom. The meet-and-greet ticket package offers a chance to chat with the band.

Sunday, November 14:

Terry Fator's “Tribute to the Troops” concert: Ventriloquist and singer Terry Fator and the Mirage Hotel and Casino will honor wounded service members during the “Tribute to the Troops” concert, a special Veteran’s Day weekend performance of Terry Fator: Ventriloquism in Concert. On behalf of Fator and the Mirage, net proceeds from the show will go to the United Service Organizations (USO) Las Vegas center at McCarran International Airport.
