New Zealand. Hip-hop capital of the world. Just ask a crew of black lipstick- and white glove-wearing ladies with robot-crisp moves that go by the name ReQuest. The New Zealand-based dance squad took home gold at the 2010 World Hip Hop Dance Championships, beating out teams from Japan, Mexico and the U.S. This week they’re back in Vegas to do it again.

Created by Hip Hop International—the people behind America’s Best Dance Crew on MTV—the dance competition celebrates its 10-year anniversary July 25-31 with a dance tourney that pits crew against crew in national and international throwdowns across three different age levels, from grade school savants to snarling adult masters of the pop and lock. Leading up to Sunday’s finals, there’ll be b-boy battles, dance workshops and enough fresh moves to inspire anyone to hit the club or studio. And somewhere in the mix there’ll be reigning queens ReQuest, trying to make New Zealand the hip-hop dance capital of the world one more time.
