Thursday-Sunday: The Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational at Shadow Creek
The Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational, hosted by Aria, returns to Shadow Creek, giving fans the opportunity to watch four days of competition with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment. This year’s event beneficiaries include the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the James R. Jordan Foundation, Opportunity Village, Cats Care and the participating celebrities’ charities of choice.
Fans who wish to experience this exclusive event can purchase daily or weekly general admission tickets, as well as daily or weekly VIP passes. VIP spectators will enjoy an unparalleled view of the course from an open-air hospitality complex featuring a “VIP Party Deck” overlooking the Par-5, 18th hole. Tickets range from $30-$500 and the action begins at 7:30 a.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Thursday-Monday: Academy of Country Music Weekend
The 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards take place Sunday night at 5 p.m. at the MGM Grand Garden Arena but there will be a full weekend of events leading up to the main event. Check out the Party for a Cause concerts Friday and Saturday headlined by the Band Perry and Dierks Bentley, respectively, at Orleans or concerts for free at the Fremont Street Experience and a Fan Jam featuring Brad Paisley and post-awards All-Star Jam on Sunday at Orleans. Keep the vibe going Monday at MGM for Tim McGraw’s Superstar Summer Night which begins at 5 p.m.

Friday: Cowtown Guitars anniversary party
Life is Beautiful Festival presents the first anniversary of Cowtown Guitars at 1009 S. Main St. in the Arts District. Celebrate with live music by Moon Dog Matinee, Cowtown’s own Crazy Chief and an acoustic set from Jordan Kate Mitchell. Free food and beverages will be provided by event sponsors Nobu, Kettle One and Firestone Brewery. The free event begins at 6 p.m. While you’re downtown, check out the rest of the First Friday events in the Arts District.

Friday-Saturday: George Lopez at Mirage
George Lopez will return to the Terry Fator Theatre at the Mirage. Lopez is a multi-talented entertainer whose career has included television, film, standup comedy and late-night television. His 2009 comedy special “George Lopez: Tall, Dark and Chicano” was the highest-rated stand-up special on HBO in five years. Throughout his career, Lopez has made more than 200 television comedy, talk show and hosting appearances, including co-hosting the Emmy Awards and hosting the Latin Grammys twice. Tickets are $59.99-$79.99 and the show starts at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Saturday: Grand opening of The Gay & Lesbian Community Center
The Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada will open the doors to its new, freestanding, multi-million dollar facility in Downtown Las Vegas, the Robert L. Forbuss Building. Mayor Carolyn Goodman, U.S. Rep Dina Titus and Councilman Bob Coffin will be in attendance for the grand opening and ribbon cutting. The free event begins at 10 a.m.

Saturday: Bike swap and rally at Cornerstone Park
Cornerstone Park (1600 Wigwam Parkway) hosts a bike swap and rally where guests can trade or sell gently used bikes and parts, explore a vendor marketplace and try out expert bike repairs, bicycle recycling and demonstrations. Concessions will be available. The free event starts at 10 a.m.

Saturday: Rock ‘n Brew at the Palms
“Rock ‘n Brew is back with its fourth edition, this year at the Palms Pool. Enjoy more than 80 beers and music from Hellogoodbye and Red Eye Radio. Saturday: Henderson Heritage Parade & Festival on Water Street
Celebrate Henderson’s 60th birthday in the Water Street District at the Henderson Heritage Parade & Festival. Take a step back to 1953 with this diamond anniversary, featuring an amazing parade, carnival, car show and more. The carnival begins at 8 a.m. and the parade starts at 10 a.m. Both offer free admission.

Saturday-Sunday: The Las Vegas Soul Festival at the Thomas & Mack
The Las Vegas Soul Festival is a two day event at the Thomas & Mack. The Saturday lineup features Erykah Badu, Joe, SWV and Lenny Williams. The Sunday lineup features Mary Mary, Kindred The Family Soul, Jonathan Butler, Shelia E., Marion Meadows and Dr. Bobby Jones. Tickets range from $23-$185 and the show starts at 7:15 on Saturday and Sunday.
