Las Vegas’ favorite six-piece folky soul group has been accepted to play June’s North by Northeast Music Conference, Toronto’s answer to Austin’s South by Southwest. Alumni of the festival, now in its 19th year, include Iggy and the Stooges, The Flaming Lips, Feist and Cults.

“Playing for our friends in Vegas every weekend is a lot of fun, but it’s not really going to get our music heard by anyone new,” explains Dusty Sunshine singer Chani Riiell.

The band has canceled a planned Northwest U.S. mini-tour so it can afford the trip to Canada. Dusty is also looking into the possibility of playing gigs in cities across the Northeast U.S. after North by Northeast.

“We're definitely excited to get more exposure,” Riiell says. “Playing a festival like this can only open more doors to more connections and opportunities. If nothing else, we're stoked to have free passes to see all the bands over the days the festival takes place.”
