Last year, the Las Vegas Comic Expo became the first full-scale comic-book convention in Las Vegas since 2003, and its success has already led to the market’s expansion, with one of the Expo’s organizers bringing the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con to the South Point this weekend (the Expo itself, run by the remaining original team, will return in September). Jimmy Jay puts on the popular Amazing Arizona Comic Con in Phoenix, and he’s used his clout and experience to draw a host of top comics professionals to Vegas, including the legendary Stan Lee (co-creator of Spider-Man, Iron Man, the X-Men and many more of Marvel’s most iconic characters) and artists Jim Lee (now the co-publisher of DC Comics), Rob Liefeld and Greg Capullo. The three-day convention will also showcase local artists, a costume contest, signings, panel discussions and more.

Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con June 14-16; Friday, 3-8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; $25-$150. South Point, amazinglasvegascomiccon.com
