You know, for kids

I realize that the music is marketed to hyperactive 9-year-olds, but I’ve been rocking new station Kydz Radio (KYDZ 1140-AM) pretty regularly in the last few weeks. Formerly a sports-talk station, 1140 switched formats earlier this month to focus on tween-targeted music, very similar to the nationally syndicated Radio Disney. The rotation is heavy on Disney artists, including Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, along with other tween-friendly artists like Taylor Swift, Paramore and Jesse McCartney.

The rotation can be pretty repetitive, and there are some serious duds in the playlist (’s version of “I Like to Move It” from Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is possibly the worst thing ever), but 30 minutes or so at a time of this station is pure bubblegum-pop bliss.
