Three Las Vegas corporations earn perfect marks for LGBT practices

Each year the Human Rights Campaign Foundation releases its Corporate Equality Index, a survey ranking companies on their policies and practices concerning LGBT employees. Of the 688 businesses that were officially rated in the 2013 CEI, 252 achieved perfect scores, earning them the distinction of being one of the “best places to work for LGBT equality.” And three of them are in Las Vegas.

Caesars Entertainment Corp. again achieved CEI perfection, as did MGM Resorts International and Wynn Resorts Ltd. To attain a perfect score, employers must meet a number of criteria. The qualifications include, but aren’t limited to: inclusion of sexual orientation and gender identity protections in non-discrimination policies, equal health care benefits for LGBT employees and domestic partners (along with a transgender-inclusive plan) and a public commitment to LGBT equality through practices such as marketing to LGBT consumers or philanthropically supporting an LGBT organization.

Bravo, Caesars, MGM and Wynn. Here’s hoping your neighboring competitors adopt similar policies and practices in the next year—it would be great to see the entire Strip stand up for comprehensive workplace equality.
