Last weekend, the World Series ended with a Giants sweep and some of the lowest ratings on record. Early Wednesday morning, the World Series of Poker made Greg Merson $8.5 million richer after a 12-hour marathon at the final table. But those are just the tip of the World Series iceberg; these other competitions offer fame, fortune ... and lots of meat.

World Series of Beer Pong

Held at the Flamingo in Las Vegas January 1-5, 2013, the WSOBP pits hundreds of binge drinkers against each other for a $50,000 grand prize and one brutal hangover.

World Series of Innovation

This Microsoft challenge asks students to submit the best product or service idea in categories like Tablet/Smartphone App Design, Fresh Take on Fitness and Dairy-Based Beverage. Winners get cash and a boost on their college applications.

World Series of Barbecue

Over 150 ’cue jockeys cooked up chicken, ribs, pork and brisket for about $30,000 in prize money at this year’s WSOBBQ in Kansas City, Missouri. Big Poppa Smokers took the top spot, but the real winners were the folks with massive meat comas.

World Series of Backgammon

An online tour and points race leads to the WSOB championship where the winner takes home the coveted Golden Cube. Even better, the whole thing is televised—in Europe.
