And you thought Electric Daisy Carnival kids wore crazy outfits.

Otakon, one of the biggest anime and East Asian pop culture conventions is setting up shop in Las Vegas, bringing tons of fans, artists and cosplayers—dedicated aficionados dressed as their favorite characters—to Planet Hollywood next January.

The long-running Baltimore convention was established in 1994 to “use pop culture as a gateway to broader cultural understanding” and brought more than 30,000 fans to the area in 2012. The 2013 Otakon returns to Baltimore August 9-11. Organizers are describing the Vegas event as “a smaller, cozier, hotel-based convention” for the time being.

Otakon Vegas runs from January 3-5, 2014, giving you plenty of time to brush up on your Japanese and put an awesome costume together.
