We gave you a couple months free of Presidential election news. Now, let’s get back to it:

State Republicans are looking to change the Nevada caucus into a primary and move it back from June to January. What does that mean? The first part—caucus to primary—means more Nevadans would participate in the Presidential nomination process. The second part—the move back to January—means Nevada would be first state along the West Coast to make our Presidential preferences known to the rest of the nation, which, in turn, means: (1) We’d get more visits from candidates, and (2) we’d piss off all the states ahead of whom we jumped.

Caucuses are fun, but only if you’re into politics. So only the truly active get involved in them. Perhaps local Republicans are thinking that next time around, they don’t want political junkies picking their candidate; they want Republicans at large—Republicans who better represent the electorate as a whole. After all, Romney won Nevada’s 2012 primary, and that didn’t work out so well.
