As We See It

Fancy fast food: McDonald’s is classing up Las Vegas with a chandelier and other things that don’t involve a clown

Well, McDonald’s, once again you’ve thrown us for a wild loop. First it was that hipster Metro McDonald’s on the Strip, with its digital menu boards, Wi-Fi access, contemporary furniture, loft seating and street-inspired murals. Now we see another chandelier twinkling within the McDonald’s under construction on Blue Diamond Road, near the Silverton.

To quote the Spinners, "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love?"

You’re really stepping up this elegance thing. The decisively minimal use of yellow and white on the boxy grey building shows us that you’re more than just a drive-thru on the way to work. It has us wondering how that 99 Cents Store will keep up. Perhaps a red carpet? Break out the McCaviar and start preparing the pommes frites because we’re dusting off our formal wear.
