If anyone deserves a shout-out this week, it’s U.S. Men’s Soccer goalie Tim Howard, who stood tall against a relentless Belgian attack on Tuesday, swatting, punching and kicking balls away for 93 minutes in the World Cup round of 16, before one finally found the back of the net. And of course, the bearded wonder downplayed his own awe-inspiring performance, telling reporters after the game, “It’s my job, that’s what I sign up to do.”
Well, to you and your mighty 16 saves, we say hats off, sir. (Or maybe, beards on.) And if you ever end up hosting a party at a Vegas nightclub, we’ll be first in line to buy you a drink.
