Would you buy cereal from a food truck? One local hopes so

Would you buy this from a food truck?

Licensing a cereal truck is kind of tricky. It's not exactly a food truck because nothing is being prepared. So maybe it's more like an ice cream truck? Regardless, cold cereal fanatic Jeffrey Howard is determined to get his concept off the ground.

If launched, the truck will hawk 25 kinds of boxed cereal, priced at $6 and served with a sippy spoon that doubles as a straw.

"It's an impulse item," says Howard, who intends to park at charity and sports events and in popular neighborhoods.

Cereal brick-and-mortar restaurants exist, such as the United States chain Cereality and Cereal Killer in London, but Howard decided against a freestanding location because "it's so expensive and the profit margin is so low."

Howard says his business is more or less ready to go, with one hitch—he needs a truck, which is why he launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $15,000. The month-long campaign is halfway through and has raised $10, but Howard is still hopeful.

"My dream is to have more than one truck," he says.
