Show 1: Friday Night, Russell Brand @ Mandalay Bay He talks like a Brit Lit made-for-TV miniseries and he looks like ghetto Jesus. He’s not just funny; he’s uplifting. Most comics shoot down hecklers; Brand worked them into his act. Treated their words with respect, even. Believing in each other

I wish I could have spent more time at this year’s James Randi Educational Foundation skeptic convention. Randi, Dawkins, deGrasse Tyson (the planetarium guy who’s always on Colbert Report)—all the big names were there. So were the small ones. Many more than last year. I know this because last year, the main ballroom had chairs & tables. This year, only chairs. Not enough space for the tables. Somewhere around 1,600 skeptics total. Mixing it up

Here’s my one-word review of Mix at Mandalay Bay: reliable. You’re going to get in, you’re going to get a view, and you’re going to have a good time. Obviously Mix isn’t the newest club on the strip, but this July 4th Weekend, when my friends V. & L. told me they wanted to go out, Mix was the first place to come to mind.
