What the hell just happened?

Friday was intense. I’m still not exactly sure of what happened. Not because I was drunk, but because I don’t have all the facts. Let’s just say, it wasn’t the best evening of my life. I planned to blog about the night, but because I’m still struggling to understand it, I ended up asking my friends write about it for me. They each contributed one sentence. (I specifically asked them for small, random sentences—sentences that didn’t address the intense stuff ... Read more...

Why magicians and bowling don’t mix

How does “Three Days of Nonstop Magic” sound to you? Either wonderful or awful, presumably. Well, if you fall into the “wonderful” group, then you should have been at The IMX Magic Convention this week. It was held at the Orleans. I won a monster pot off an Argentinean alloy manufacturer, who’d been sitting next to the pro. To comfort him, I said, “Well, at least ... Read more...

Brick and mortar and mind reading

I order everything from the Internet. Books, underpants, electric razors—you name it, I’ve bought it. But mostly I buy magic tricks. Same goes for a lot of magicians—we all get our stuff online. That’s why so many brick and mortar magic stores have closed shop in the past decade. But not Denny & Lee Magic Studio on Dean Martin Drive. It’s still open, and I’m glad. Here’s why: Last week, I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to buy an Ultra ... Read more...
