Almost a year ago while participating in the Great Santa Run, injured illusionist Roy Horn from Siegfried & Roy threw away his walking stick to walk unaided for part of the course. The magic masters unite with our beloved local Opportunity Village charity on Dec. 6 for the 4th annual Great Santa Run downtown.
Participants can register by visiting LasVegasSantaRun.org and receive a five-piece Santa costume -- complete with hat, belt and beard! There will be two courses: a 5K fun-run and a 1-mile Kris Kringle Jingle stroll for the casual walker or jogger!

Vegas will be competing against towns in England, Ireland and Australia in an attempt to win a Guinness Book of World Records award for fielding the most Santas in one place at one time.
“It’s our third year,” Siegfried said. “It is a great event to support a wonderful charity in our community.”
Roy added: “It’s the magic and spirit of all the Santas that led me through the race these past few years. I’m looking forward to this race again and invite you all to walk a mile in my shoes.”
Roy told me he’s been working out with a strenuous fitness program and plans this year to walk even farther without his cane.
“I’ll even make it faster this time, as well,” he vowed.
