“Delicious!” That was the one word -- with an air-drawn exclamation point -- that Kim Kardashian told me as she summed up the gala opening of the candy emporium Sugar Factory at the Paris last night.
Kim was presented with a one-of-a-kind $1 million diamond-encrusted Couture Pop and matching necklace covered with 125 carats of flawless white diamonds and 200 grams of 18 carat white gold. The unique lollipop is now on display in the confectionary Strip-front windows.
“Now that’s bling. Simply stunning and very beautiful. The top is the perfect size for a ring!” she joked. It was massive fan mayhem as crowds went hysterical for her arrival at the complex, which includes a retail store, a brasserie, a Chocolate Lounge and the sprawling Chateau Nightclub & Gardens.
Hundreds of Kim’s admirers swarmed The Strip. Some guys put their girlfriends atop their shoulders for a better view. Several girls and guys climbed trees and over bushes to peer through the restaurant’s windows as Kim and Mel B shared candy while dishing tete a tete. Those who managed to get closer on the stairs mobbed her at the restaurant entrance, even with a phalanx of six bodyguards to keep her safe.
Also on the red carpet for the opening night gala: Holly Madison and her Holly’s World sidekicks Laura Croft and Josh Strickland. I walked for the media posse of photographers and cameramen -- fortunately accompanied by a stunning pair of Cupcake candy stripers! Don’t even ask how those outfits stay together because I marveled at the mechanics.
British singer and Caesars Palace headliner Matt Goss was there, as was Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin and Planet Hollywood head honcho Robert Earl, new Wynn/Encore President Marilyn Winn, XS and Tryst Managing Partner Jesse Waits, Paris headliner Anthony Cools and Flamingo headliner Nathan Burton. Comedian Nick Cannon, who’s at the Palms tonight, was there, as was sexy Australian bombshell Havana Brown twisting the turntables until early today.
Nick posed for photos with 2010 Miss Nevada USA Sarah Chapman, a day school principal who will compete in Donald Trump’s 60th anniversary Miss USA Pageant at Planet Hollywood. David Arquette was unable to make Kim’s private flight from L.A., as he was involved in a car crash en route to the airport.
Kim brought her 13-year-old baby sister Kylie along for the Las Vegas trip, her first here, and the girls had a fun time browsing and shopping the confectionary counters, where Kim’s own candy line is displayed alongside Britney Spears’, Mel B’s and Holly Madison’s. Kim's new record "Jam" was played, and she said that she was donating the proceeds from the single to a cancer research group in honor of her late father, attorney Robert Kardashian.
Kim kept up with Twitter and text messages, taking photos of everything and passing them on to her fans nonstop through dinner. She and Kylie sipped on giant milkshakes and then went upstairs for a preview tour of Chateau Nightclub & Gardens, where superstar Drake will perform four songs tonight for its gala opening. He’ll sing twice, once in the club and then out in the gardens overlooking the Strip. His performance also will be streamed live on the Paris balloon. We’ll have that report tomorrow right here at Vegas.DeLuxec.com and report live on Twitter @robin_leach.
Next up is the opening of the group’s Gallery nightclub and Pussycat Dolls Lounge at the nearby Planet Hollywood. Robin told me that auditions start March 18 and 19. She’s invited me to sit in to see the all new choreography and sexy outfits, as she puts the potential Pussycats through their paces.
Everybody at last night’s gala opening that ran until nearly dawn agreed that it’s a spectacular new round-the-clock entertainment entry onto the scene -- -with the best views at center Strip right under the Eiffel Tower landmark.
Kim summed it up best with her two thumbs up -- “Delicious!” -- and Miss Nevada USA added: “Everybody is going to love this. It’s another only in Vegas spectacular.”
