The Rose is out of the bag

To be filed under cocktail chatter: We’re hearing tell of a sexy new side project involving, among others, Privé Las Vegas directors Greg Jarmolowich and Frank Tucker.

Sources say The Rose, a “cocktail room” (hmmm, we’re guessing tabs over bottles and some serious mixology…?) will open at summer’s end (“shooting for labor day weekend”) in the former footprint of the diminutive Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce burlesque club at the intersection of Mandalay Bay, THEHotel and Mandalay Place. Following on the heels of a seemingly endless parade of closures—ND’s Fuego, Trader Vic’s, The Monte Carlo Brew Pub—and amid rumors of additional impending closures within the nightlife pantheon, news of an actual opening is rather refreshing, as refreshing, in fact, as a frozen cocktail served up poolside at Jarmolowich and Tucker’s other recent project, Bambu Bar (wink wink); the petite Mandalay Bay Beach oasis celebrated its grand opening Thursday night.

A spokesperson for Jarmolowich and Tucker declined to comment, saying only, “We are unable to discuss anything at this time.”
