So you think you can DJ?

So, you have a pair of CDJs set up in your bedroom. You bought a MacBook Pro and installed everything from Ableton to Serato to Traktor. You bring your coffin of DJ gear to house parties in Henderson and drool over the world’s biggest DJ/producers at Godskitchen and Perfecto every week.

But can you compete with the big kids in Vegas, if not the world?

The first edition of the DJ Awards’ Bedroom DJ Competition is underway and on the lookout for some of the best unknown turntabilists out there. If you’ve got the chops to win it all, renowned DJ Paul van Dyk will give you a master class to take you to the next level. In Ibiza. Then you get to play a set at the sunset bars. And don’t forget the VIP treatment at the DJ Awards on September 29 at Pacha in Ibiza, as well.

Sound like the chance of a lifetime? It is. The competition has three categories: most technically gifted, most entertaining and most innovative. Entrants create a profile on djawards.com, then upload a video of a 10 to 15 minute DJ set at home.

The public is responsible for choosing the winners and voting for their favorites in each category. The deadline is July 31, so set up your camcorder for something other than explicit home movies and get to mixing. This could be your big chance.
