While Vegas nightclubs were snubbed at the International Dance Music Awards last year, they’re not down for the count. However, they may be out of the spotlight. The seventh annual Club World Awards, which honor the best parties, DJs and venues, have canceled their awards ceremony and will be keeping a slightly lower profile this year at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. The only formal ceremony will be the International Dance Music Awards in which Pure Nightclub is in the running for best U.S. club. Here’s hoping we do better than last year.

According to staff at Club World mag’s offices on Tuesday, the disco globe trophies will still be handed out by a “prize patrol” tracking down the winners as they party hop around Miami. Vegas noms include Rain and Pure for best super-club; LAX in the best club category; best lounge nods for Playboy Club and Tabu; Lavo and Prive for best new club; Paul Oakenfold and DJ Vice nominated for best resident; Jeff Novak at LAX for best LJ; Erick Morillo at Tao Las Vegas on Monday May 25, 2008 for best set; best one-off nomination to DJ AM and Travis Barker Live at LAX, Kaskade and Deadmau5 at Wet Republic, Midsummer’s Night Dream at Palms Pool and Steve Lockwood for the Blondeshell Awards at Jet; the Summer Surprise Series at Pure, Godskitchen at Body English and Perfecto at Rain for best party; Body English for best sound; best video system nominations at Lavo, Rok and Hawaiian Tropic Zone; Christian Audigier and Lavo for best interior design; LAX, Tabu, Christian Audigier and The Bank all up for best bottle service. Whew! We’ll keep you posted on who packs a trophy into their suitcase for the trip home.
