Wyclef made my Saturday night
The hours leading up to his 9 p.m. concert at the Joint had been not very pleasant. First, my family drove away in a U-Haul, crying their eyes out, leaving me forlorn and alone on the sidewalk. Then my phone died, the charger was lost and three phone stores lacked the correct charger. I also was unable to find anyone to go to the concert with me. So I went alone. I walked out to the Hard Rock poolside where ... Read more...

Despite line up change, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club rides tall
The Los Angeles-based Black Rebel Motorcycle Club has been touring heavily in the US and across the globe to promote their latest album Baby 81, which came out in May 2007. The tour has seen its share of bumps in the road. In June drummer Nick Jago was replaced with Leah Shapiro. Five reasons Trisha Yearwood is not Garth Brooks (and that’s a good thing)

I heart local rock
It’s no Seattle, New York or Austin, but Las Vegas has produced its share of musical heavy weights. In recent years the Killers and Panic at the Disco have taken over the airwaves, and at Sunday night’s Local Bands Jam at the House of Blues, a slew of local bands proved that the Vegas music scene is just getting started. The show opened with a set of high-energy pop punk tunes from Leaving Springfield. The band, which is made up ... Read more...

Follow Yellow Brick Road to new stations
From across the club I heard my name, then the question, “Got any requests?” It was Brody Dolyniuk, barking into his microphone from the stage at the Railhead at Boulder Station. It was the last Friday before the last Saturday at the Railhead for the city’s premier classic rock-cover band, which has been going off the rails on the crazy train at Boulder Station since 1998. There have been a few other stops for YBR, including a brief stint at ... Read more...
