So long, Jillian’s. Hello, 305 Club

Just when things are looking especially bleak in the local music scene – Jillian’s has closed, the Joint as we know it is creeping towards its last live show – someone comes along and makes things all better. Or at least maybe somewhat better. This isn’t a fairy tale, you know. Just a few weeks ago downtown all-ages venue Jillian’s shut its doors, because, as owner Loraine Kusuhara told Weekly, “I don’t have any more money to lose. I put ... Read more...

Hard Rock Dis-Jointed (for a bit)

The Weekly has learned that one of the most iconic venues in Las Vegas history will shut its doors on February 7. Believe the hype: Snoop at Icehouse this Saturday

Relaxing on a leather couch, the room and their faces drenched in red light, famous rap artists E-40, Too Short, 2 Live Crew and Snoop Dogg will raise their glasses of Dom or Hen to toast the 75th birthday of blues legend Fillmore Slim, aka “The West Coast Godfather of the Game” and “The Pope of Pimping.” No doubt all the artists have learned a few things from the legend in the ways of women and music. They grew up ... Read more...
