So today I toured the Hard Rock Hotel’s new Joint— set to open with a Killers show on April 17—and I can report it looks a fair bit like its predecessor. It’s a little wider, somewhat longer and, to my eyes, a lot taller. But proportionally, it appears fairly similar.
Of course, I can’t really render an informed opinion on the new digs until I see—and more importantly, hear—someone actually perform there. So for now, I’ll rate the hors d'oeuvres offered up during a media session that followed our hard-hat excursion.

* Grilled cheese: The diagonally cut sandwich portions smelled a tad funky but proved to be quite tasty. I’m pretty sure goat was the employed cheese.
* Crab cakes: Served atop cross-sections of lemon and lime, these were fairly unwieldy. They weren’t super-delicious, but then, I’ve never been a crab cake kind of guy.
* Some sort of chicken wrapped in something: Weird.
* Sliders: Tender three-bite morsels with an unexpected kick (I’d guess a spicy relish was involved). If their quality is any indication, the new Joint will seriously rock.
