It measures a staggering 109 feet tall, and as of last night, Las Vegas has it now! The Christmas Tree delivered from Oregon to The M Resort will rise above the Strip’s southern end.
The Las Vegas Christmas Tree outshines the Nation’s Christmas Tree at The White House and even the famed Rockefeller Center tree in New York, which, incidentally, might not even get decorated and lit this season because of a union feud with NBC.
Our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was on hand as M Resort Chairman and CEO Anthony Marnell III checked out the tree on arrival. The tree will be unloaded today and placed in the Villagio del Sole plaza pool area.
The official lighting ceremony takes place on Dec. 12 to also mark the end of the National Finals Rodeo events in town. Hotel officials expect it to take at least 10 days of nonstop work to decorate the tree with ornaments and lights.
I’m no botanist or tree expert, but I think if you count the rings around the trunk, it’s indicative of the tree’s extraordinary height and age.
