No thanks. That’s what Border Grill co-chef and founder Mary Sue Milliken said the first time Bravo came knocking for Top Chef Masters. Then she said no again. And again. “The idea of everything having a time limit kind of drives me crazy ’cause I feel like cooking is such a craft and an art. I just felt like it just makes it so you can’t do the art,” Milliken says by way of explanation. But after watching Border Grill co-owner Susan Feniger make it to the final five on Season 2, Milliken caved. And just in time. Season 3 of Top Chef Masters (premiering April 6 at 11 p.m.) not only features 12 seriously skilled culinary experts—including fellow Vegas name Alex Stratta—but also introduces a favorite episode to the Masters: “Restaurant Wars.” When regular competitors attempt to create a complete dining experience in a single day, the competition often gets ugly. With A-list talent—many of whom already own restaurant empires—taking a turn this season, things are bound to get messy. And probably delicious.
