Production is underway on Flamingo headliner Marie Osmond’s debut daily, one-hour fall daytime TV talk show for the new-look cable channel Hallmark, and we’re learning advance details. After shooting the first weeks of episodes in L.A., the singer returns to her hit Flamingo show with brother Donny Osmond today.
Producer Beth Cochran (“Soap Talk,” “Dr. Phil,” “The Great American Dream Vote”) said: “We’re all having such a blast. ... Every show day brings something new. The producing team has become a family, and Marie is exactly what you would expect -- a gracious host who really cares about her guests and their stories.
“Singer-songwriter Josh Doyle talked to Marie about his career, and she gave him some great advice about singing and his music career. Another highlight was Marie’s interview with Fran Drescher, who brought her dog Esther wearing a pearl and jeweled collar.”
Hallmark has planned a network makeover to launch Oct. 1 and is betting on Marie, who anchors the new daytime schedule, with previews starting Sept. 17.
NEW EDM GIANT? Billionaire entertainment mogul Robert F.X. Sillerman, who brought Cirque du Soleil’s “Viva Elvis” to Aria, is building a new electronic dance music conglomerate with a $1 billion investment. He’s shelled out big bucks to buy Dayglow Productions and its “world’s largest paint party” and the promotional company Donnie Disco Presses. Robert is reportedly in negotiations with 50 small companies in the EDM business -- and close to finalizing 15 of them.
His new performance company would represent new international DJ star-moneymakers, produce new EDM events around the world similar to the Electric Daisy Carnival at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and plan nightclub venues to expand the genre. Las Vegas regular Robert is one of America’s 400 richest men. He bought majority rights to Elvis Presley’s Graceland, which he licensed to Cirque for “Viva Elvis.” He also purchased Simon Cowell’s 19 Entertainment, which includes “American Idol.”
