The Details

Noodle ChaCha
2021 W. Sunset Road, 567-3000.
Daily, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

The weeks-old Noodle ChaCha has taken over the odd space formerly known as Chubby’s Mexican food near Sunset and Sunset, but there’s nothing odd about this new Henderson restaurant. ChaCha serves up a multicultural selection of noodle dishes, prepared quickly and delivering solid, if not surprising, flavors.

There are noodle soups, like Chinese wonton, Vietnamese pho, Thai tom yum, and Japanese ramen. Some are spicy, and some need a little more kick, like the dan dan noodle bowl with minced pork, mushrooms, green onions and dried tofu.

There are wok’d noodles, too, chow mein and chow fun and pad Thai. Hong Kong-style noodles, crispy egg noodles with a thick brown gravy and loads of fresh veggies plus your meat choice, are my early favorite. Roasted duck noodle soup is next on my path of menu exploration.

Not in the mood for noodles? Choose from Chinese-American classics like sweet walnut shrimp ($16.95) and Mongolian beef ($8.50). There’s a weird selection of oven-baked pork chops or seafood entrees served with tomato sauce over rice. But don’t get confused. Ordering is made easy by a $7.95 lunch deal that includes one of 17 entrees, a nice, greasy egg roll, a bowl of soup or mixed green salad, and rice—unless you ordered noodles. Then, no rice for you.
