Where to score some snacks for National Popcorn Day

A number of specialty popcorn stores have popped up across the Valley over the past few years, offering Las Vegans locally-made, gourmet varieties of the traditional snack food.

Many of these munchie-making companies go far beyond the usual flavor trifecta (butter, cheddar and caramel) to offer creative and diverse assortments of the stuff. From green apple to cinnamon to jalapeno ranch, it should be easy to please just about any junk food aficionado.

And this Saturday is the perfect opportunity for you to ditch the standard microwavable bag, as the country celebrates National Popcorn Day on January 19.

Orville Redenbacher might have known a thing or two about convenience (and style with that sweet bow-tie), but his kernels don’t hold a candle to some of the stuff you can find at one of these local outlets:
