Cowboy up with big, bold bites at PBR Rock Bar & Grill

Barbecue is something of a secret specialty at PBR Rock Bar & Grill.

The PBR World Finals are back in Las Vegas this weekend. Where will all the hungry cowboys go? PBR Rock Bar & Grill, of course, the Strip-side party spot at Planet Hollywood's Miracle Mile Shops.

You don't need to be a cowboy to take on the new Cowboy Challenge, a two-pound burger with a half-pound of cheese, a half-pound hot dog and a half-pound of chili on a giant bun topped with four fried pickles and served with a pound of fries and a 24-ounce milkshake. Finish it in a half-hour and it's free and you'll get a T-shirt. But you don't have to race against the clock—you can share one of the restaurant's new giant burger offerings with your group. The Double Double Trouble Trouble ($65) feeds six, topped with American cheese, bacon, fried eggs, Hollandaise sauce, lettuce, tomato and onion.

Bring an army if you're planning to tackle the Double Double Trouble Trouble.

Other shareable new options include barbecue platters that can feed 4-12 people ($85-$175) with racks of pork ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, corn on the cob, baked beans, cole slaw and fries. All the portions at PBR are huge, so these feasts can definitely satisfy more than the prescribed group numbers. The ribs, for example, are so meaty and rich, two would probably fill up the average eater.

Barbecue is something of a secret specialty here—the pulled pork, also available in a mountainous sandwich ($16), is sweet, tender and slightly smoky, just like those ribs, and the brisket is sliced thick and equally tender. Get it on a sub roll with onion rings and melted cheese ($17), on a pizza ($16) with barbecue sauce, onions and jalapeños, or as an entrée ($25) with a side dish like roasted garlic mashed potatoes or Doritos-crusted macaroni and cheese.
