Fresh corn tortillas made daily, chunky guacamole and a red salsa so robust you’ll want to slather it on everything. Those are a few first impressions from Uno Más Street Tacos + Spirits, the new Mexican eatery inside SLS Las Vegas.

And there’s some local flair, too. The mural on the outside of the restaurant—layered with sugar skulls, flora and fauna—is the creation of Vegas-based art collective Recycled Propaganda. Inside, the decor is just as intriguing, with framed paintings of people as succulents and cactuses. It’s a fun, off-the-wall theme that matches Uno Más’ playful menu.

Start with the chips and salsa ($5)—fresh with the perfect amount of crunch, complemented with roasted red and tangy green salsas that will give your taste buds a nice buzz. Uno Más’ guac is also worth the $12 splurge, made with heaping chunks of avocado, tomato, onion, and serrano and jalapeño peppers. Pair it with a margarita ($14) and really start to unwind.

Uno Más’ street tacos land are a bit pricey—one for $6, two for $11 or three for $16—but if you’re like me and eat your weight in chips, three tacos should suffice. Juicy carnitas with avocado crema and chicharrones, marinated pork al pastor with pineapple and plump pan-roasted shrimp xni-pec are just a few of the other options. Go with a group so you can try a little bit of everything, and don’t be afraid to order uno más.
