Sadly, we won’t be eating these tremendous tacos adobadas on the Boulevard anymore.

The most popular least expensive restaurant on the Strip has closed. Tacos El Gordo at 3049 Las Vegas Blvd. South, just north of Encore, shuttered last weekend. A company spokesperson could not disclose the exact reason for the closure but said it had nothing to do with Tacos El Gordo operations. The company is planning to open a new store early in 2015 at 3260 Losee Road in North Las Vegas, and its original local restaurant remains open at 1724 E. Charleston Blvd.

Hash House A Go Go also is planning a new location. The “twisted farm food” mainstay will bring its fifth location in the Valley to Henderson in February, a 6,100-square-foot space formerly occupied by Tony Roma’s at 555 N. Stephanie Street. The restaurant will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

Fantastic whiskey action continues at Delmonico Steakhouse, thanks to head bartender Max Solano and chef de cuisine Ronnie Rainwater. The dynamic duo is teaming up with the Balvenie Distillery for a four-course pairing dinner on December 11. Example pairing: Gulf flounder with roasted sunchokes and brown butter with Balvenie 14-year Caribbean rum cask whiskey. Tickets are $120 and reservations are available by calling 702-414-3737.

If Honey Salt wasn’t already one of your holiday favorites, maybe its Hanukkah menu will do the trick. In addition to the dinner menu, special seasonal offerings available December 15-24 include crisp potato latkes, smoked salmon pizza, slow roasted brisket with egg noodles and glazed root vegetables, and Hanukkah doughnuts with vanilla sugar and strawberry jelly.

Las Vegas restaurants are known to go all-out for New Year’s Eve, but Rick Moonen is setting a new standard this year: He’s auctioning off his Mandalay Bay culinary and cocktail wonderland Rx Boiler Room. In addition to taking over the space for a private New Year’s Eve celebration, the lucky group of 100 will enjoy live music, special dishes created by Moonen and four hours of open bar. Bidding is open for just a few more days, until December 10, and started at $10,000 with proceeds planned for a charity of the winner’s choice.
