When Presto Cafe opened in late 2012 on South Rainbow Boulevard—complete with juice and smoothie bar and fresh salads for days—it appeared to be another addition to a growing swarm of healthy eateries attacking the Valley. But once we became more familiar with its offerings, especially the addictive, Turkish-inspired pides, it was obvious Presto was a quiet gem. Call it great food that just happens to be better for you.

And now it’s coming to Henderson. Owner Reza Arshadi is opening his second Presto Cafe this week at 19 S. Stephanie St., just off the 215. There’s no doubt the Green Goodness smoothie (apple, avocado, banana, spinach, kale, ginger and agave) will be a hit with post-workout crowds from the nearby gym, but the slightly larger new store should be big at lunchtime for all kinds of eaters.

My Presto menu picks? The green eggs and ham flatbread, with pesto, roasted red peppers and all kinds of savory goodness on a crisp, lavosh-like version of that tasty pide dough; the Israeli couscous salad with herbs and mushrooms; and a seemingly simple turkey sandwich on cranberry walnut bread turned spectacular with bacon, avocado, cheddar and an over-easy egg.

Presto Cafe 4950 S. Rainbow Blvd. #130, 702-293-3332. Daily, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
