Yellowtail, the acclaimed Japanese restaurant and sushi spot residing at Bellagio since 2007, is set to open a second location on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood this fall. The new restaurant will be a collaboration between chef Akira Back, the Las Vegas-based Light Group and the LA-based LORE Group, which operates Rock & Reilly’s Irish Pub in Hollywood and Park City, Utah.

The LA version of Yellowtail, to be located at 8768 W. Sunset Blvd., is yet another development in a period of explosive growth for Akira Back. The Korean-born, Colorado-bred chef expanded his Strip presence in 2013 with Kumi at Mandalay Bay, another Light Group project. Working with different partners, he’s also opened new namesake restaurants in India and Indonesia in the last year.

The Light Group also continues to grow and change. After a huge 2013 that saw the local company open the new Light Nightclub with Cirque du Soleil and Daylight Beach Club (as well as restaurants Kumi and Citizens Kitchen & Bar) at Mandalay Bay, the Light Group is developing the new Hearthstone Kitchen & Cellar restaurant coming to the Red Rock Resort this fall. The company also recently turned over operations of Brand Steakhouse to the Monte Carlo resort and casino.
