Dining News & Notes: Society Café closing, Simon gets Dinner His Way at Made L.V.

More dining changes at Wynn and Encore: Society Café will close at the end of December, with a similar three-meal restaurant concept led by chef Joe Zanelli set to open in the current Botero space by the end of the year. No word yet on what will happen at the Society space, located right next to Encore Beach Club and Surrender Nightclub.

The Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay celebrates Bourbon Heritage Month with the Bourbon & Bites Pairing on September 3 at 6 p.m. Beam Suntory bourbons including Red Stag, Basil Hayden, Maker’s 46 and Knob Creek rye will be matched up with dishes such as crispy pig ear lettuce wraps, Scottish smoked salmon and barbecue lamb chops. Brunch every day. What a concept, right? Off The Strip at the Linq Promenade has unveiled a new menu that includes brunch dishes daily available from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring jumbo shrimp cocktail, pancakes, yogurt parfaits and chicken and waffles. Other new additions to the menu at dinner include grilled lamb chops and a build-your-own burger option.

All September long, Hexx Kitchen, Bar & Chocolate is participating in Dine Out for No Kid Hungry. For every dessert purchased, Hexx will donate 15 percent of proceeds to No Kid Hungry, which raises funds and awareness to end childhood hunger in America.

Made L.V. at Tivoli Village will host a very special guest-chef dinner on September 9 at 6:30 p.m. Kerry Simon is the guest of honor and inspiration for Dinner His Way, a fundraising event for the Kerry Simon Fight MSA program and Keep Memory Alive. Chefs who have worked with Simon throughout his illustrious culinary career—including Kim Canteenwalla, Ben Halley, Simon Telluride, Michael Van Staden, Jamal Taherzadeh, Chris Vaughn, Justin Nilson and Michelle Ortiz—will team up to present some of Simon’s favorite dishes, including the Iron Chef sliders, Kerry’s Klassic Meatloaf and the infamous Junk Food Platter. Ready for some football? To kick off the season, Green Valley Ranch Resort’s Turf Grill will host a hot dog-eating contest on September 10 at 4:30 p.m. Only 20 competitors will have five minutes to eat as many hot dogs and buns as possible, with the winner receiving a dining credit for two for game-time munchies every Thursday, Sunday and Monday during the season. CraftHaus Brewery in Henderson celebrates its first anniversary with the Glitter Bomb Party on September 12 at 6 p.m. New beers will be released, past favorites will be revived, a glitter beer will be unleashed and music, food and art will be part of the party. Wolfgang Puck’s annual Sip & Savor dine-around returns to Spago at the Forum Shops at Caesars on September 16 at 6 p.m. Guests will sample dishes from all six of Puck’s local restaurants and have the opportunity to mingle with their chefs, too. The world’s largest sake celebration is coming to town. The Joy of Sake, held for the last 15 years in Honolulu, San Francisco and New York City, will make its Las Vegas debut on September 19 at Caesars Palace. Sake aficionados will taste a record 391 premium sakes from 167 breweries across Japan and the U.S., accompanied by sake-inspired appetizers from 14 local restaurants. On September 19 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Craig Ranch Regional Park will host Pigs for the Kids, a barbecue cook-off and competition, to benefit childhood cancer charities. Anyone can compete and prizes will be offered in four different categories. Guests can purchase a VIPig pass allowing samples of everything, and live music from Uberschall, Gina Gleason and Hashtag rounds out the event. Tickets are $10.
