One of Wolfgang Puck’s oldest Las Vegas restaurants has closed for good. Postrio, located in the Grand Canal Shoppes at Venetian, shuttered earlier this week after 16 years. A statement from the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group notes the company is “focused on the domestic and international growth of its core restaurant brands Cut and Spago,” both of which are still going strong in Las Vegas. Cut also just opened in Bahrain, and Spago is set to expand to Singapore this year. In Vegas, Puck and his partners also maintain Trattoria del Lupo at Mandalay Bay, Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina at the Shops at Crystals and Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill restaurants at MGM Grand and Downtown Summerlin.

You may have made plans to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, but you might want to reschedule so you can attend the interactive margarita and guacamole demonstrations followed by a three-course lunch (with tequila pairings!) set for May 5 at 2 p.m. at Hecho en Vegas inside MGM Grand. You’ll work with executive chef Reed Osterholt while learning how to make the restaurant’s signature tableside guac and shake up a perfect margarita with Asombroso Tequila ambassador Sam Garcia. Then, feast on chiles en Nogada, lamb barbacoa bandera and a three-layer cake. (Don’t worry, you don’t have to make those.) Tickets are $75 and can be purchased by calling 702-891-3200.

Strip House at Planet Hollywood—one of our favorite steakhouses that seems to fly under the radar, if you’re keeping score—will host a winemaker dinner May 5 at 6:30 p.m. pairing the offerings of Twomey and Silver Oak with a five-course menu by corporate chef Michael Vignola. Sweet pea soup, a spiced lobster roll, Mangalitsa pork collar and a 40-day dry-aged ribeye are on the menu. Tickets are $150 and can be purchased by calling 702-737-5200.

Rick Moonen has been hanging with the CraftHaus crew.

RM Seafood chef/owner (and new Weekly restaurant columnist!) Rick Moonen recently collaborated with CraftHaus Brewery to create a specialty Belgian wit-style beer to complement his seafood driven menu. You can already find many of the local brewery’s creations on tap at RM and sister restaurant Rx Boiler Room, but be on the lookout for a beer pairing dinner that will highlight the results of their team-up.

Nove Italiano at Palms will host “Walk of Johnnie,” a Johnnie Walker Scotch whiskey pairing dinner on May 9 at 6:30 p.m. featuring the favorite brand matched with the cuisine of executive chef Marlon Simbulan. Expect dishes like candy-striped beet carpaccio, crispy pan-seared salmon with whiskey foam and romanesco puree, and filet mignon with lobster mashed potatoes. Tickets are $119 plus $79 for the optional Scotch pairing and can be purchased by calling 702-942-6800.

Della’s Kitchen at Delano will host a “farmhouse dinner” on May 17 at 6 p.m. featuring locally sourced and sustainable ingredients curated by executive chef Jay Calimlim. On the menu: spring asparagus with smoked crème fraiche and organic beets, Durham Ranch fried quail with pepper mignonette, and a Berkshire pork “chop” with creamy grits and baby root vegetables. Tickets are $78 and can be purchased by calling 702-632-9254.

Save the date of May 21. That’s the return of the Nevada Restaurant Association’s Las Vegas Epicurean Affair poolside at Palazzo. José Andrés plays host this year and VIP ticketholders will get to meet him and enjoy flavors from his Bazaar Meat. Other restaurant participants at this stroll, sip and nosh event include Origin India, Carlo’s Bakery, Tao, Buddy V’s, Table 10, Gilley’s, Ferraro’s, Ku Noodle, Bouchon, Urban Turban, Café Mayakovsky, Cleo, Capital Grille, Firefly and Il Mulino. Tickets for the event start at $100 and can be purchased at palazzo.com.
