Downtown Container Park’s The Perch will celebrate its first anniversary on October 7 with a three-course prix fixe menu priced at $26. Patrons can also indulge in a selection of wines or sparkling wine for $5 a glass or $20 a bottle.

The Silver Sevens casino, just east of the Strip, is hosting a weekly food truck battle every Thursday in October from 4-7 p.m. Admission to the event is free and SS Club Card members can vote for their favorite for the chance to win $500 in free play. Attendees can dine from each week’s participating trucks, too, including Sauced, Cousins Maine Lobster, Bacon Boys, Oso Ono, A Gourmet Soiree and more.

Pete Rose Bar & Grill is scheduled to open in mid-October on the Strip across from Aria, a 9,000-square-foot restaurant, bar and patio open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner developed by HIG Management and corporate executive chef Brian Littlejohn. Menu specials will honor the three cities where Rose played, including Cincinnati chili on spaghetti, a classic Philly cheesesteak and a spin on poutine (for Montreal, of course).

The Buffalo chicken sandwich is sure to be a menu favorite at the Pete Rose Bar & Grill.

Major League Eating and Martorano’s partner to present the first Martorano’s Masters World Pasta Eating Championship on October 17 at 1 p.m. under the Arc De Triomphe at Paris Las Vegas. The contest will bring together 12 professional and amateur competitive eaters downing as much Martorano’s pasta as they can in eight minutes. The event is free and open to the public and will be hosted by Steve Martorano in honor of National Pasta Month and the first anniversary of his second Las Vegas restaurant at Paris.

Carnival rides, midway games, a beer garden, a tequila tent and family-friendly attractions round out the event. Tickets start at $10 and are available at greatamericanfoodiefest.com.

Palazzo’s Chinese restaurant Zine Noodles & Dim Sum closed recently for a rebranding; it will re-open in November as the more casual Hong Kong Café, also serving Chinese cuisine.
