Dining News & Notes: Bourbon brunch at Morels and Golden Week at Hakkasan

Brunch gets boozier this month at Morels French Steakhouse.

Every Saturday and Sunday through September and including October 3 and 4, Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro at Palazzo is celebrating National Bourbon Heritage Month with a bourbon brunch spotlighting creative dishes from chef JL Carrera. In addition to the regular brunch menu, specialty dishes include bananas Foster pancakes with Jim Beam Honey maple syrup ($17), a bourbon Benedict with country smoked ham, poached eggs, brioche toast and Maker’s Mark hollandaise sauce ($19), and a Snake River Farms burger topped with smoked cheddar and Jim Beam-glazed bacon. An assortment of special bourbon cocktails are available, too. Brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Locals who like wine and free stuff should get to RM Seafood at the Shoppes at Mandalay Place. Nevada residents dining there will receive a complimentary bottle of select red or white with the purchase of an entrée. Just flash your local ID and ask about “Wine and Dine for Locals.”

Hakkasan at MGM Grand is once again celebrating the traditional Chinese Golden Week holiday with a limited-edition signature menu available September 28-October 18. The menu includes a supreme dim sum platter featuring dumplings made with lychee and lobster, abalone and caviar, and Dover sole and black truffle; crispy eggplant with dried fish floss; steamed red snapper with golden enoki mushrooms; stir-fry asparagus with morel ginkgo nut and lotus seed and more. The menu is priced at $138.88 for parties of two or more.

The atmosphere at Andiron Steak & Sea is one of a kind.

Andiron Steak & Sea at Downtown Summerlin continues its monthly specialty dining series with the Wagner Family Wine Dinner on September 30 at 7 p.m. New executive chef Brett Uniss will create a five-course dinner paired with selections from the Napa Valley vineyard, with dishes including lobster and roasted corn pate au choux, bacon-wrapped monkfish with ash-roasted leeks and wood-fired striploin with potato and fennel gratin. Tickets are $150 and can be purchased by calling 702-685-8002.

Ferraro’s teams with Pemberton to host a pig roast on the patio paired with loads of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages on October 4 at 6 p.m. Specialty boutique wines, craft beers, rare Scotches and Q Organic Sodas will be showcased along with Ferraro’s classic Italian fare. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased at 702-364-5300.

Is fall here yet? Prepare to celebrate the season with the return of Festivino at the Venetian, back for its fifth year on October 9 from 7 to 10 p.m. Guests at this mini-festival will learn about wine from sommeliers and enjoy the culinary creations of some of the Master Chefs of France including Steve Benjamin, Jacques Chretien, Olivier Desaintmartin, Jean-Louis Dumonet, Jérôme Ferrer, Claude Le-Tohic, David Werly, Olivier Dubreuil and more. Tickets are $95 and can be purchased at venetian.com.
