Did you know you breathe enough air every day to fill approximately seven hot air balloons? Or that if all the muscles in the human body worked together, they could lift 10 tons? Learn astounding facts like these at the new Real Bodies exhibit at Bally’s, open since August 1. You’ll also see real-life organs, discover what makes you tick and find out just how intricate the human body really is.

This in-depth display of human anatomy was produced by Imagine Exhibitions (Titanic The Exhibition). There’s no connection between Real Bodies and Luxor’s Bodies the Exhibition; the major difference is that Real Bodies delves deeper into the sociocultural, emotional and historical relationships bound with the body. It also features interactive and sensory elements designed for all ages, installations from local artists and double the amount of actual bodies.

With nine rooms correlated to body systems (“Move” for the musculoskeletal system and “Think” for the nervous system), you’ll get up close and personal with more than 20 artistically and methodically dissected human bodies and numerous preserved organ specimens including the heart and brain, all provided by Dalian Hoffen Bio-Technique Co., Ltd. Take heed of what’s behind the curtain in “Think,” and feel the eeriness of the hallway as you walk into “Death’s Door,” which is laid out as an ossuary; soon, you’ll be able to get married in this room, too.

If you’re curious about how it’s all done, a majority of the pieces are preserved through plastination, and full bodies can take up to a year to complete. The ones on display have been donated to science. A bit creepy but cool: You can stop at the desk on your way out to pick up a form if you, too, are inspired to contribute to research after death.

Real Bodies Bally’s, 702-777-2782. Daily, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; $15-$25.
