Vegas’ NHL team gets christened on Tuesday

Image

Even before June’s announcement that Las Vegas had officially been granted an NHL expansion team, the city has been collectively wondering: What will we call these ice-gliding ruffians? That question will be answered on November 22, when NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, Vegas franchise owner Bill Foley and other team reps will reveal the name and logo of our city’s first major professional sports organization at Toshiba Plaza outside of T-Mobile Arena. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with live music, Cirque performances and youth hockey demonstrations before the big unveiling, And you, townsfolk, are encouraged to attend, buy the introductory team merch and skate on the outdoor rink. MGM, bless its heart, is even providing free event parking for locals. Score!
