Boston … post-Delp?!?

Image

Brad Delp, the voice behind classic-rock staples “More Than a Feeling,” “Peace of Mind” and “Long Time,” committed suicide last year. Which leads to the obvious question … who the heck will be fronting Boston when the band rolls into town for its Saturday-night concert? Well, best we can tell, Delp’s been replaced by two dudes: Michael Sweet, formerly of Christian metal band Stryper, and Tommy DeCarlo, of, um, MySpace. It seems DeCarlo liked to work up covers of his favorite Boston tunes in his spare time and post them on his page—all fun and games until Delp died and DeCarlo’s “work” got noticed by Boston leader Tom Scholz and … well, if you’ve seen Rock Star you know the rest.

Anyway, word is DeCarlo sounds more like Delp than Delp did by the end, so if you still spin Don’t Look Back like it’s 1978, you might as well check it out. It’s the Thomas and Mack’s 25th-anniversary celebration, it’s only $25, and you also get to scope out Styx … minus its original lead singer, of course.

Boston and Styx. June 28, 7:30 p.m., $25. Thomas and Mack Center, 739-3267.
