Ne-Yo predicted 2009 would be the Year of the Gentleman. The fashion, music and beverage industries have united, creating these triple threats—men of sophistication who can be hip while wearing a bespoke suit and then slip into a nice Tennessee Whiskey at the end of the day.

A suitable last-minute holiday gift for such a man (or urbane woman, for that matter), Gentleman Jack is Jack without the harshness. Charcoal-mellowed a second time, Gentleman Jack is refined and makes a great entrance at parties.

To honor Frank Sinatra’s birthday on December 12, I enjoyed a Sinatra Smash at Encore’s Sinatra Restaurant, which consisted of Gentleman Jack, Briottet Crème de Cassis, muddled fresh blackberries, fresh sweet-sour, and vanilla syrup over crushed ice. But Sinatra himself always stayed true to his Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7.
