This was expected, but that doesn’t make it any less infuriating. After years of cutting corners at the expense of his patients’ safety to engorge his bank accounts, Dipak Desai is claiming he’s broke. Three of the clinics that allegedly infected some patients with hepatitis C filed for bankruptcy this week, a move that instantly puts on hold any lawsuits. It’s repugnant that people are able to hide behind lawyers with delaying tactics like this. Patients put their trust in medical professionals and were betrayed. To delay giving them justice is one more chink in Desai’s legacy.
