Drink in “Drunk” art

Image

Words and pictures: They go together like booze and Vegas. That’s what makes Drunk, a self-proclaimed “comic about bar stories” so enticing. A group of local artists and graphic-novel aficionados got together and decided to make a comic book about drinking and the hilarity that ensues. The result is a collection of 25 stories by as many artists—locals, nonlocals, famous, almost famous. If word on the street is to be believed, Drunk is the real deal, and great stuff to boot.

'Drunk' review

For a different glimpse into the publication, Atomic Todd Gallery will feature an exhibition of original artwork from the book beginning November 6. Local artists include Erin Stellmon, Chad Brown, Laurenn McCubbin, Mike Ogilvie, Sean Russell, Aaron Sheppard … well, you get the idea. There are many ways to tell a story, and the range of hot artists and artwork featured in the comic promises a top-notch collection of images and artwork that will soften the hardest of drunken hearts.

Maybe I need some new friends, but everyone I know is either trying not to drink or trying to drink as much as possible. Drunk is the perfect pit-stop for boozy tortured artists.
