Save this concert! (redux)

We’ve been worried since the get-go that Leonard Cohen’s November 12 Caesars Colosseum show won’t actually transpire (see Las Vegas Weekly, July 30, “Save this concert!”). And now comes news that the 75-year-old folk icon collapsed (twice) onstage in Spain during a September 20 performance, in part, reportedly, due to dehydration. Just what we need: one more reason for Cohen not to visit our dry desert habitat.

And there’s this: At press time, blocks of tickets (as in, at least two adjacent seats) were readily available at all six price points in the 4,300-capacity hall—including a previously unlisted $26.82-per-seat second mezzanine section. Which, seemingly, would not bode particularly well for the man’s chances of packing the house.

Basically, what we’re saying is, Leonard, start guzzling your sports drink of choice; and Vegas, get on the stick, eat canned tuna for a week and plunk down a few bucks to see a legend who’s never played here—and no doubt never will if we can’t make this happen.
